Mama put in the OED: World Englishes and the Oxford English Dictionary
On April 30th, EMLex student Temitope Dorcas Adetoyese represented EMLex in the OED organized webinar titled ‘Mama put in the OED: World Englishes and the Oxford English Dictionary’. It was a live online session anchored by Dr. Danica Salazar (OED World English Editor) and Mr. Kingsley Ugwuanyi (a Nigerian English consultant). They discussed how different varieties of World English are being included in the OED, the processes around this, other areas of improvement, and how researchers can get involved. Every language is standard and every language variety matters.
